The Greater Washington Section of the Mercedes-Benz Club of America is pleased to announce the 2021 Deutsche Marque Concours d'Elegance!

A Washington Metropolitan Area rite of spring, the Deutsche Marque Concours regional event is an ideal opportunity for GWS-MBCA members to join their BMW Car Club of America and Porsche Club of America friends in a celebration of our German marques!

In the Deutsche Marque Concours d'Elegance, vehicles are judged by their condition, appearance, and cleanliness. Competitive Mercedes-Benz vehicles are divided into two classes:

"Concours Street" Class – Judges scoring cars in this class will follow MBCA National Concours Rules in which the Interior, Trunk, Soft Top, Chrome, Rubber, Glass, Lights, Engine Compartment, Exterior Paint, and Body Work (but not the Chassis/Underbody/Exhaust System) are assessed. On the day of the show, these cars will be divided into categories based on actual turnout.

"Concours Popular Vote" Class – Public ballot will determine the “People's Choice” award.

Introduced in 2017, the "Spirit of the Deutsche Marque Concours Award" will be announced and presented as the finale to the Awards Reception. Jointly, the three local Concours Chairs from BMWCCA, PCA, and MBCA will choose one car from their Best of Marque recipients to receive this large and impressive award.

The Deutsche Marque Concours d'Elegance remains free of charge to spectators and the Concours entry fee (online only!) will be $40 per car prior to April 30. Each Concours entry fee includes one Awards Reception ticket. Additional Reception tickets can be purchased online for $16 each.

NEW PANDEMIC POLICY - NO EXCEPTIONS - READ CAREFULLY:

THE ONLY WAY TO REGISTER FOR THIS EVENT IS ONLINE AND IN ADVANCE.

NO ONE WILL ENTER YOUR CAR IN THE SHOW OR SELL YOU ADDITIONAL AWARDS RECEPTION TICKETS AT THE EVENT.

ABC LAWS PROHIBIT ALCOHOL OUTDOORS: NO BEER, WINE, OR LIQUOR OUTDOORS!

PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN PICNIC LUNCH TO ENJOY BY YOUR CAR.

INDIVIDUALLY WRAPPED CHARCUTERIE BOXES WILL BE PROVIDED TO REGISTERED ATTENDEES AT THE AWARDS RECEPTION.

DUE TO PARKING CONSTRAINTS, WE ARE LIMITED TO FORTY (40) MERCEDES-BENZ SHOW CARS.

PARKING LOT SPOTS AVAILABLE FOR SHOW CARS ONLY.

TO FACILITATE JUDGING (OPENING DOORS/TRUNKS, RAISING TOPS, ETC.),

YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO TURN ON YOUR CAR, MOVE IT FORWARD A FEW FEET FOR THE JUDGES, AND THEN MOVE IT BACK INTO THE PARKING SPOT.

PLEASE: DO NOT HOLD UP THE JUDGING BY DISAPPEARING.

MASKS MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES.

Please understand that in order to maintain fairness in judging, you must have your car in position on the lot well before judging starts at 10:30 a.m., preferably by 10 a.m. Physical space limitations require that you stay by your car during the judging to move it forward and backward into the parking space so the judges can evaluate it, open doors, trunks, and ask you to raise convertible tops. If your car is selected for an award, the announcement will be made at the Awards Reception. Please be present at the Awards Reception to receive it, otherwise, it must be awarded to the runner-up in attendance at the Reception.

To ensure this event runs smoothly, we invite you to volunteer your time! Volunteer opportunities include setting up our welcome tent area, guiding entrants to parking lot spots, handing out score sheets to registered participants, participating as a Concours Judge, setting up our Awards Reception area, and helping to leave the facilities as we found them. Your input is very much needed and appreciated!

Event Description:

This year we will be back at the Park Avenue Club in Florham Park, NJ on Saturday, June 19, 2021 for the NNJS 57th Annual June Jamboree. The Park Avenue Club is conveniently located near major roadways and is easy to get to from your location. This would have been the 58th June Jamboree, but due to covid-19 we had to cancel last years event. Needless to say, we are looking forward to the Jamboree this year as it will be our first big event of the year. As time gets closer, we will let you know more details.

The cars will be broken down into two categories – Concours (judged by a team of judges according to MBCA guidelines) and Popular (voted on by those in attendance). The cars in Concours class are then further broken down according to chassis. Concours cars need to be detailed and will be judged in four categories: 1 – Interior, Upholstery, Trunk; 2 – Glass, Lights, Rubber, Chrome, Trim; 3 – Engine Compartment; 4 – Paint, Coachwork; and points are also given for mileage and age. There is a mandatory 2-point deduction if your car is trailered to the event. Popular Vote cars are divided into two categories (Sedan and Sport) and then further broken down by years – New – 2016 to present; Modern – 2006 – 2015; Old – 1996 – 2005; Vintage – pre - 1996. My advice for the Popular Vote cars is to “Give the baby a bath and come enjoy a good time with fellow Benz enthusiasts.” Cars over 25 years old are also eligible for the Silver Star Preservation certificate – you can be in either Popular or Concours and have your car judged for this certificate.Registration information will be avialable soon.
