Spring is heralded by The Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance during the second weekend of March. This year the stars were the MBCA cars on display at Saturday’s Cars & Coffee at the Concours, on the same field that the next day would be filled with a selection of world-class automobiles.

Amelia Island is a by-invitation-only event, and Cars & Coffee was no exception. MBCA members’ cars to be displayed were selected by a committee of fellow MBCA members that included the executive director of the Amelia Island Concours, Brian Webber, a member of the Southern Stars Section. They selected cars that would show the passion our members have for the marque, as well as celebrating “120 years of Mercedes-Benz Motor Sport.” This was an opportunity for our members to present not only concours-quality restorations and one-of-a-kind high-performance models, but beloved daily drivers as well.

The MBCA display in front of the Mercedes-Benz pavilion was the largest not only in the number of cars on display for a single marque, but also in the size of the crowd. The highlight of the morning was when Nate Lander from the Classic Center motored onto the field in the Blitzen Benz. It was a perfect way to celebrate the marque and Mercedes-Benz motor sport, and the strong relationship MBCA has with Mercedes-Benz. We have been invited back for 2015; the call for entries will be announced in club publications late this fall. The MBCA display on the fairways during the 19th annual Amelia Island Concours weekend was truly an event to remember.
