The MBCA Ottawa Section has been asked to participate in the New Edinburgh StreetFest on September 10/2022. The StreetFest is a charity event that will celebrate the history of the New Edinburgh area and raise funds to support the Inuuqatigiit Centre for Inuit Children, Youth and Families.
Part of the event is to hold a classic car display. Several other car clubs will be participating and we would like to include some of our cars in the display. We are looking for cars that are of the 70’s or older vintage, although we can include later R107 series cars given the similar styling to earlier models.
Included is a copy of the event prospectus to give you an idea of the full listing of activities included in StreetFest.
It sounds like it will be a fun event to attend even if you are not displaying a car and a support a good cause.
We need to let the organizers know the number of participants by the end of May, so if you are interested in displaying your car, please contact Mike McKinnon ([email protected]) with any questions or to confirm you participation.

All necessary items, such as corn on the cob holders and boats, bibs, butter dishes and paper towels will be available. There will be soft drinks, water and ice. If you plan to attend but if you are allergic to seafood or particularly shell seafood, please let the Millers know so that they can look for an alternative. BACK FOR ANOTHER FULL WEEKEND FOR 2022!!!!
Come out and join us for an educational WEEKEND of fun driving on Summit Point's Shenandoah Circuit - The Shenandoah Circuit is a 2.2-mile (3.5 km) road course that first opened in 2005. It is a no holds barred technical challenge that will take years for drivers to master. The track contains a dimensional replica of the Nürburgring-Nordschleife’s famous banked Karussell turn complete with 20 degrees of banking.
The corners contain both positive and negative camber as well as increasing and decreasing radius turns with vertical drops. If you are truly up for a challenge to your car handling abilities, the Shenandoah Circuit is truly one of the most technical tracks in the country.

Mark your Calendar NOW for Havasupai ‘22
We’ve all heard of Arizona’s “5 Cs”, the cornerstones of the State’s economic development over the past 100 years. And now one of these – Copper – is the theme for Havasupai ’22, to be held September 30 - October 2 in the heart of Arizona’s copper mining region.
Veteran rallyemasters Chuck and Ava Stanford have promised the usual – and some new twists as well – sure to make for an exciting and memorable weekend. You’ll be driving Arizona’s picturesque scenery and winding roads, while observing sites and scenes of unimagined scale and investment, and maybe even finding some of your own treasure along the way!
We’ll start on Friday nite at the Best Western Copper Hills Inn in Globe (sorry, the Ritz Carlton was booked…) Following a short, scenic drive from the Valley, you’ll check in, and then take a stroll across the street for some wine tasting and live music, tasty snacks, and fun hospitality. Saturday morning following a hearty breakfast, we’ll hit the road for local history, observation, and basic information about the fascinating process of extracting and treating the shiny metal that comprises 50 pounds of your car (165 pounds if you’re driving electric), nearly 450 pounds of the average home, and 12% by weight of your cellphone! We’ll see mining towns that have thrived in the ups and downs of this complex and cyclical business – and some that haven’t fared as well… Along the way, you’ll also enjoy some great food, fun drives, and yes, probably a few “miner’s words” directed at the rallyemasters.
Saturday nite we’ll celebrate our driving accomplishments and “mining” success with dinner and an auction! There’ll be prizes for all, but with a surprise! And of course, we’ll award traditional Kachinas for those whose mileage, observation and puzzle skills best match the rallyemasters.
You won’t want to miss this unique weekend – bargain priced at only $549 per couple for the entire weekend. This all-inclusive amount covers hotel, all your meals and prizes, in fact, everything but your alcohol and fuel – which by the way is about 50 cents a gallon less in Globe-Miami than in the Valley. Fill out the form on page 5 of the Stardust Newsletter and return it to Debbie Ichiyama. We’ll look forward to seeing you in mining country – no pick and shovel needed !

The drive will take us on Foothill Expressway, and our first stop will be at Stanford Memorial for group pictures. Join us for a delicious lunch at the historic 1836 East Troy House Inn & Tavern (located on East Troy's downtown square) on Saturday, Oct 15, starting at 12:00 Noon.
After our lunch we will start our leisurely fall color tour of the Southern Unit, Kettle Morraine State Forest. We will provide each car with an instruction sheet and a WDNR map of this State Forest.
We will drive on six well-paved and winding scenic state and county highways past the Old World Wisconsin Outdoor Museum, farmlands, woods, lakes and thru rustic small towns like Eagle and Palmyra. You can drive at your own pace and stop wherever you like for scenery, photos, etc. The posted speed limits are typically 35-45 mph. Total driving time is about 90 minutes.
At the conclusion of the trip, you will be on Hwy 83 in Mukwonago. From there you can drive 2 miles on Hwy ES to the Elegant Farmer for some of their famous bakery or drive directly back home whenever you like.
Let me know if you would like to join us for this lunch by Oct 10, so we can notify the restaurant. You can also just participate in the fall color drive. Call, text or email me if you have any questions. Hosts are Bernd & Christine Kampe at 262-492-4441 (mobile/text msg) or email [email protected]

Once again we are going to take our fall drive to Winnsboro, TX and it will be for the 64th Annual Autumn Trails Event which is an annual month long event for the town. Saturday the 22nd is for Antique Cars that begins with a parade into downtown. For those interested after the parade they have three maps that follow the country roads outside of Winnsboro to view the fall leaf colors. It will be a fun day with our club participating in the parade and the folks love us because we are one of two clubs that have candy for the kids. The other club is the Model A Club. After the parade we will have lunch at Hope Grill & Café in Winnsboro, at 301 E. Coke Road, which is near downtown Winnsboro. The menu has Mexican and American items on the menu and a room is available for us. Just remember to bring candy, lots of candy to throw out to the kids on the parade route. This has been a lot of fun for our club in the past; you won’t believe all of the cars especially the Model A’s and the kids on the parade route are the most fun of all.
Meet for check-in at 8:00 AM at the QuickTrip gas station at 1400 E. Joe Ramsey Blvd, Greenville, TX. (It is at the southeast corner of HYW 69 and I-30 East in Greenville). If anyone is lost call Ron Seifert’s cell phone at 972-824-0464.
We will leave at 8:15 AM for Winnsboro. It is a 55-mile drive from Greenville and we form up for the parade in Winnsboro at 9:45 AM on highway 11 leading into Winnsboro. It is important if we want to stay together to be there on time. We must leave at 8:15 AM!
I will pass out tour maps for those who want to drive the three back road tours/drives that they have outlined for the autumn trails.
After lunch you will be free to return home on your own schedule.
The cost for the event/drive will be $10 per car, payable at check-in or PayPal.
Don’t worry about not having an antique or classic car they welcome the MB Club participation. For those with convertibles or antique restorations it will be a fun place to show your car and you can practice your special Royal hand wave for the crowd. Put your section magnetic sign on your cars for the event if you have them.
We are looking for a great turnout and this time of year should give us great driving weather and a nice day for a fall drive.
