Southern Stars Section & Mercedes-Benz of Orange Park host a Cars & Coffee!

On December 12, 2020, MBCA Southern Stars Section & Orange Park Mercedes-Benz co-hosted a Mercedes Cars & Coffee and Marine Corps Toys for Tots collection holiday event! Southern Stars Section brought a couple dozen custom-ordered cookies as well as fresh coffee and even chocolate cocoa, and Orange Park Mercedes provided the coffee and beverages for our guests. Prospective members and dealership customers visited the cars and chatted with owners, and a couple of new memberships were planned! Members and guests were happy to reconnect with people while socially distancing, and contributing to Toys for Tots! We collected a trunk full of toys! A hearty “Thank You!” to everyone who participated! We also had several members arrange for a drive the next day, from Fernandina Beach, to the Festivals of Speed event on Jekyll Island.

One of the stars of the Cars & Coffee was a 2014 CLS63-S AMG shared by our newest member William Riddle and his wife. Perhaps they will share other their AMG ’63 with us soon as well! Gene Gorman brought out one of the AMG’s in his Mercedes collection, an extremely low mileage 2005 SL55 in a gorgeous Obsidian Black, with AMG Black Series wheels that match his 2008 CLK63 Black Series, also in black! He stated that he has owned 77 cars, and the SL55 remains his favorite, he has owned it for over 12 years now! Member Bruce McCormick shared his beautiful 1985 380SL, and that was also the most vintage car of the day. Brad Louis shared his sweet RennTech W210 E55.

Vice President David Wommer shared his 2009 AMG SL 63, Membership Chair Rob Schlessinger shared his 2005 SL 500. President Chase Jackson shared his 2012 E550 Cabriolet and his father drove in his 1991 420SEL to share! Sheldon Hofferman and his wife Gail shared their youngest Mercedes, a 1995 E320 Cabriolet, which was also our most vintage cabriolet of the day. Treasurer Jackie Keener brought her 2020 GLC 300 which was loaded up early that morning with the section tent, table, several chairs, our MBCA banner, boxes of literature and of course beautifully-baked cookies from Old Cup Cafe on 3604 Saint Johns Avenue, Jacksonville, FL.

There were coupes, roadsters, cabriolets, sedans and a couple of SUVs that attended! Something for everyone to enjoy! Everyone shared stories and laughs, and new friendships were formed! A good time was had by all!
