Sacramento July First Sunday Drive

Because of this coronavirus, it has been awhile since the Sacramento Section had an event. Thanks to Kris and Melinda, we had one today, with some precautions that have to be a first for Sacramento, if not MBCA.

Everyone showed up at the rally meeting point with a mask. It reminded me of a masquerade party!

And typical of a First Sunday Drive, there was a wonderful assortment of Mercedes, from an early 60s 220S Cabriolet, to an AMG-GT, a couple of 60s Pagodas and R129 SLs. Thirteen cars showed up.

I had to complement Melinda on how nice her 230SL has become – a lot of work has gone into it since she bought it a few years ago.

I didn’t recognize – at first – Lance and Lori who had driven all the way from Reno to join us!

But a nice drive we had, following the banks of the Sacramento River. First we went Southwest on the eastern side, crossed the bridge to Isleton (Home of the Crawdad Festival!), then we returned to Sacramento on the western side along the river.

Because of the virus, we had to forego lunch, because of the restaurant requirements although at our destination – a large shopping center – there were plenty of options.

Some chose to picnic along the levee of the River.

I would like to thank Lance and Lori for making the trek down the Sierras to join us, and to Melinda and Kris for organizing the event.
