While half the country is under storm alerts with snow and freezing temperatures, the Niagara section of MBCA gathered to share food and wine. Mary Ann and Fred Liesinger were our gracious hosts and opened their lovely home to us. That snowy Sunday January 19 was our annual Wine tasting event. Fran Bumgartner organized the order of the wine tasting and recorded pertinent information for distribution later. Members brought wines from as far as Portugal, California, West Virginia and as close as the Niagara region. Along with some Rieslings, and Cabs, we enjoyed two of our region’s famous ice wines and a unique Maple wine. What made the event even more fun is the stories that accompanied the chosen wines; including vacation finds, a search for a dry Riesling, and tracking down a wine that was a restaurant’s excusive serving. Along with the wine, each member brought an appetizer or dessert to share. Even after the wines were finished, the 18 participants including Julie Bruggner, National President of MBCA, stayed to talk and share stories while nibbling on the delicious food. Thank you to the Liesingers who have hosted this event before which was also during a snow storm.
