North Texas Christmas Party at Heritage Ranch and Country Club

                                                       December 16, 2017

Although it was a night that turned out to be a rainy one, at Heritage Ranch Country Club, it was an inviting, festive, and fun evening for the members attending the annual North Texas Section Christmas Party.  Members Ron and Carolee Seifert again graciously arranged for us to have our Christmas party at Heritage Ranch in the spacious ballroom.  Some 50+ NTX members were greeted by two great Mercedes-Benz cars, a 2018 E400 Cabriolet owned by Ron Seifert and a 2017 AMG C43 Coupe owned by Ron Harwick parked just outside the front door.  Beautiful decorations of the season in the entrance hall as well as in the ballroom made the holiday experience very festive!

Our President, Craig Halverson, called the members to be seated for dinner following a time of socializing with appetizers and drinks.  Dinner music was again provided by Pete LaFlamme, That DJ Guy.  An excellent job was done by Maurice Nahas, the Master of Ceremonies, as he emceed the after-dinner program.  After thanking the dealerships and recognizing guests, Maurice called on Ron Seifert to introduce the special entertainment for the evening who was Sam Sawyers, better known as Sam The Magic Man.  Sam the Magic Man presented a wonderful 45-minute program which boggled the minds of everyone.  He also entertained during the dinner on a table-by-table basis.

Following the special entertainment, Maurice recognized the charities sponsored by the North Texas Section and their representatives.  Ellen Haynes from Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children thanked the members for their support, and a brief 2-minute DVD on Scottish Rite Hospital was then presented.  Rick Crocker from The Samaritan Inn of McKinney was then introduced, and he spoke briefly about the new building that is almost completed for The Samaritan Inn.   Gayle Brewer, Chairman of the Christmas Party Committee, was then recognized, and she in turn recognized all the members of her committee.  Craig Halverson then presented the Member of the Year award to Brett Jurick, Regional Director, for all his efforts on behalf of the club during this past year.   After this presentation, Brett presented membership lapel pins in honor of those members who have been members as of this year for 10, 20, 30, and 40 years.  Brett also presented the Executive Board with a plaque from the National Office recognizing the North Texas Section’s benevolent efforts.  Maurice then introduced our new National President of MBCA, Gene Jurick, who then gave a brief talk about the state of the club.   Following the program, dancing then began while door prize drawings for 27 items commenced and bidding on Silent Auction items continued.

Thirty items were offered for bidding in the Silent Auction held to benefit the section’s two charities.  In addition to the silent auction, a 50/50 raffle was also held to benefit the same charities.  Over $2,600 was raised during the evening.

The 2017 NTX Section Christmas party was an event to be remembered, and a lovely time was had by all!
