Garvan Woodland Gardens is a 210-acre botanical garden located approximately 6 miles from Hot Springs National Park.  Owned by the University of Arkansas, it has the stated mission of education, research and public service.  The gardens are situated on a woodland peninsula with 4.5 miles of shoreline on Lake Hamilton. It features rocky inclines reminiscent of the surrounding Ouachita Mountains, with floral landscapes, streams, and waterfalls in a natural woodland setting, Garden of the Pine Wind Japanese Garden, a conifer border, and camelliasmagnoliasroses and more than 160 different types of azaleas.  The tour of the gardens takes about 2 hours.  The time you take your tour is totally flexible that day as we will not be touring as a group. If you want to arrive earlier or later, that will be fine.  The gardens open at 9 a.m. and close at 6 p.m.   However, we are planning a social hour at the hotel at 5 p.m. and dinner at a local restaurant at 6 p.m.  So give yourself enough time to tour the gardens and be ready for these two group activities in Hot Springs.  This is planned as an overnight event.  You can stay one or two nights in Hot Springs or drive down and back on Saturday just for the tour.  We hope you will plan to stay at least Saturday night so you can join us for the social events.
