I read a portion of any exchange involving the "re-setting" of power windows and/or a sunroof. It apparently involved holding down a window switch, for example, and listening for a "click" which would mean the window was properly re-set and would operate normally. Is there such a feature on a 560SEL or were they talking about another Benz? I think I found this discussion in a W 126 Forum. My windows work fine, but sunroof does not open all the way. If I could simply reset it my life would be much simpler. I'm betting I am not that lucky. Present driver 1987 560SEL. Thank you.

Sorry to say, no reset feature on any of your windows/sunroof. I would recommend not holding the switch, it's Very hard on the window regulator and frame.
When was the last time you removed the rails/lubed the sunroof mechanism?
The lube is Specific to sunroofs, do No use white lube etc..

Alas, it is as I figured. I could NOT bring myself to holding down a window switch since it seemed to me it would be a perfect way to (a) crack a window or (b) burn out a motor. At present, windows all work fine. In fact only thing that does NOT work on this latest aquisition is the electric R-side mirror and I do not worry about it much.
But I fear I did make a mistake and use some lithium white lube on sunroof rails. I have the sunroof closed since I do not use it and probably never will. Just like the ones I have owned before. If you have a nice climate control system that keeps the temperature just right who needs the roof open.
Thank you for the information. It confirmed my suspicions.
