Oil change on new MB?

Should I do an oil change on a brand new C300 at 1000-2000 miles? I saw a forum that recommended this because they said the oil from a new engine accumulates metal particles that should be eliminated prior to the manufacturers recommended interval of 10,000 miles.
I like to change the oil @ least once in the first 1-2K. Being an M272 w/ possible balance shaft issues I'd recommend changing the oil every 5K instead of 10, especially if you plan on keeping the car long term.
