How do you add Bluetooth to a C240/ 2004 no phone installed. Don't want to spend too much if possible!

The car I just purchased (2004 C240) has a telephone feature on the steering wheel, but I am told it would cost $400 to install a factory Bluetooth component to allow the use of this feature. Are they crazy???
Someone please help!!!!!!!!!

Assuming that my C55, which also has a phone icon on the steering wheel, could also have Bluetooth installed, what would I get for that? Would it sync with my iPhone? Use my iPhone directory? I assume I still have to dial the iPhone, but can talk and listen hands-free. Is that accurate? It does seem a bit beyond rationality to pay as much as the phone cost to get a system that will only work in that car, when I can buy a super-good earpiece for around $100. Is there a good reason to get the installed car system?

When you figure it out, please email me. I have the same problem with SLK I just bought
Thanks,

400$ isn't bad.. the local dealers here charge almost 3X that to install bluetooth on the earlier cars.
The Good aftermarket systems run about 550.
