heater blower noise

My 82 380sl, it seems like whenever I turn on either the defrost or heater the blower (fan) seems to be making more & more noise, hard to describe but it does not sound good.
Does it mean I need a new blower or is there a fix to this problem?

Al,
I'd strongly recommend taking the blower motor out Now and getting some lubrication into the bearings..ATF works Well. New blower motors are only availble through Mercedes last I checked and they are $$$$$$.
You May be able to find a lingering electric motor rebuilder in your area, if so I'd recommend taking the motor out and bringing it to him before it stops working all together.
Best of luck, and be Careful w/ the cover over the motor, the plastic Loves to fracture/break after all these years next to the engine.

Thank you for your response, I was able to lube it with the ATF &Ithe ugly noise has all but disappeared, at least for now.
