President’s greeting

Let me begin by saying that our club needs a NEWSLETTER EDITOR. We turn to you, our members, for volunteers. A regularly published newsletter is a requirement for our section to continue to exist. I feel sure that we have talented members, willing and able to produce a quarterly. Perhaps you are just waiting to be asked, so I am hereby asking.

We have many activities that are good fun during our season and these provide material for the newsletter. This year we began the fall season of 2009 with our Annual Meeting on September 19. Once again, Mercedes-Benz of Miami welcomed us in their boardroom where we recapped the past year and planned the upcoming activities.

Richard Eldridge, our secretary, took over the hosting duties for our monthly Tower Shops Meet. Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts, members and potential members, gather on the first Friday of every month to share car stories and kick tires. It is lots of fun for the whole family.

Mercedes-Benz of Pompano dealership invited us to celebrate Oktoberfest with them. The day was full of fun, good food and camaraderie. Our host was Ed Taylor, manager of the dealership and we were happy to see our old friend and past president Ben Brand.

One tradition that we are repeating is our annual Holiday Party. We gather at La Palma Ristorante in Coral Gables for a festive buffet luncheon in elegant surroundings for holiday festivities, gift exchange and good cheer.

There are other events in the planning stages for the months following. We will visit the Miami Air Museum, reprise one of our favorites, a Day at the Races, and plan a driving event. We look forward to your participation not only in attending but also in planning these and other events. Check the website for information and a way to contact us with ideas.

The directors meet frequently to work out these plans and you are welcome to join in the fun of planning. Watch the website for details and let me know so that we can include you in the restaurant reservation for the Board of Directors’ meeting.
