October 5, 2008 I am pleased and honored to be your new president. Over the years, I have served as director, co-editor of the newsletter, and in due turn secretary and vice president of the South Florida Section. As president, I will continue to bring the same level of commitment and enthusiasm to the club. The annual membership meeting took place at Mercedes-Benz of Miami as it has for the past several years. Having completed his two-year term, Gabriel Gomez passed the gavel of the presidency to me. We are grateful for his leadership and are pleased to have him continue as a board member. We are also pleased to announce that Del Fruit, a frequent participant in our activities, has joined our board of directors. In addition to his interest in our club, Del has been active in running events at another auto club as well. His enthusiasm and experience promise to be a great addition to our section. Over the years we have had many different and varied events that we hope have appealed to you, our members. Several events for the upcoming season have already been planned. On November 8, please join us for our annual ever-popular outing to the International Auto Show in Miami Beach following our luncheon at Carnevale restaurant on Lincoln Road. Please watch for the flyer with pertinent information for this and all future events, or turn to our website at mbca.org/southflorida We are excited about a new venue for our annual holiday party on Sunday, December 7. We will gather at La Palma Restaurant in Coral Gables for a festive buffet luncheon in elegant surroundings. Holiday festivities will ensue; please join in on the fun. On January 17, our group will enjoy the hospitality of one of our own members, Guy Lewis, as we visit his impressive collection of classic cars. We will then go on to a conveniently located restaurant in the area for lunch. Remember also our first Friday of the month Auto Meet at the Tower Shops in Davie. It is a great event for auto enthusiasts and lots of fun for the whole family. There are other events in the planning stages for the months following, and we look forward to your participation not only in attending but also in planning them. Let us know where your interests lie. Check the website for information and a way to contact us with ideas. Look for the membership survey in the next issue of our newsletter and return it with your input. The directors meet frequently to work out these plans and you are welcome to join the fun of planning. Watch the website for details and let me know so that we can include you in the restaurant reservation for the Board of Directors’ meeting. Tünde Robinson, President, South Florida Section |
