 | The morning weather was perfect as the South Florida Section drivers met at the 84 Diner to begin our Saturday drive to Clewiston. After our organizer and leader, Jorge Gil, held a drivers’ meeting, off we drove in an impressive convoy with tops down. Our first stop was the levee where we compared notes about the ride and had a chance to admire each others' cars. Next, we headed for the Clewiston Inn, famous for its hospitality and its reputation for being haunted. Some members of the Road Star section joined us for a bounteous buffet lunch, after which we all gathered in the well-appointed lobby for pictures. Our waitress treated us to ghost stories and a guided tour of several of the rooms so we could see for ourselves if the place was haunted, and sure enough. . . We returned home on our own, with at least one couple driving all the way to Palm Beach just for the fantastic open car drive down A1A in perfect weather. The event was conceived, organized and packaged by members Jorge and Orte Gil, who left nothing to chance. Thanks for giving us a great event to enjoy driving our Benzes. | | |
| We gathered in the lobby of the Clewiston Inn after lunch. Gail, our guide on our haunted house tour, is seated bottom left. Jorge and Orte picked a great destination. In the photos above, you can see some of the cars at the levee, which was surprisingly dry, given that we were only driving Mercedes-Benz. Few Chevies were seen on the levee. | | |
