  5. SY will appear in the top left hand corner of the DISPLAY TIMER. Use the down arrow until START appears on the bottom portion of the screen.
  6. Take out the START PHOTO CELL with antenna jack and plug one end of the USB CABLE into the back of it. Turn on the START PHOTO CELL by holding down the Blue on/off button until it beeps. Release the button and then the unit should go beep, beep, beep, beep, etc
  7. Now plug the other end of the USB CABLE into the back of the DIPLAY TIMER. The beeping should stop. Then wait for a long beep followed by a beep every 4 seconds. This could take a few seconds. Unplug the USB CABLE from the START PHOTO CELL.
  8. Turn on the START IR EMIT PHOTO CELL by pushing the Blue on/off button and wait for one beep. Once you hear one beep release the on/off button. Now place the START PHOTO CELL and the START IR EMIT PHOTO CELL facing each other. Now you have your Start Photo Cells set for your event.
  9. To set up the Finish Photo Cells push the MODE button on the DISPLAY TIMER until SY appears on the top left hand corner of the screen. Use the up/down arrows until FINISH appears on the bottom portion of the DISPLAY TIMER screen.
  10. Take out the FINISH PHOTO CELL with the antenna jack. Plug the USB CABLE into the back of the FINISH PHOTO CELL and turn on unit by holding down the Blue on/off button until it beeps. Release the button and then the unit should go beep, beep, beep, beep, etc.
  11. Plug the USB CABLE into the back of the DISPLAY TIMER, if it's not still plugged in from setting up the Start Photo Cells. Beeping should stop then wait for a long beep followed by a beep every 4 seconds. This could take a few seconds. Unplug the USB CABLE from the FINISH PHOTO CELL.
  12. Turn on the FINISH IR EMIT PHOTO CELL by pushing the Blue on/off button and wait for one beep. Once you hear one beep release the on/off button. Now Place the FINISH PHOTO CELL and the FINISH IR EMIT PHOTO CELL so they are facing each other. Now you have your Finish Photo Cells set for your event.
  13. Hold the CLEAR button on the DISPLAY TIMER until all Zeroes appear on the screen. You can now test the system by breaking the Start Photo Cell Beam, wait a few seconds, then break the beam on the Finish Photo Cells. A time should appear on the screen. Wait between 5-10 seconds and break both start and finish beams like you did before and the new time will appear on the top of the DISPLAY TIMER and the older time will appear on the bottom of the DISPLAY TIMER screen.

Quick Notes

  • If you break the start beam and finish beam too close together the timer might not register the time.
  • If running two cars on an autocross, if one car is about to finish and you are about to start the second car wait until the first car finishes. The timer doesnt always register the start time of the second car if both start and finish beams are tripped at or near the same time.
  • When testing start and finish photo cells, don't have the units too close together. Put the start photo cells at one end of a table and the finish photo cells at the other end of the table.
  • Batteries can be tested when all units are being shut off by holding the on/off button beyond the beep. The DISPLAY will read BATT GOOD or BATT BAD. The PHOTOCELLS will flash green LED if battery is good and red LED will flash if battery is low.
  • ALL COMPONENTS WILL WORK FOR 20 HOURS AFTER FIRST LOW BATTERY WARNING.

Batteries Required

PHOTO CELLS(start / finish) 3 AAA alkaline batteries each
IR EMIT (start/finish) 9 Volt alkaline battery

To Set Up LARGE LED DISPLAY

  1.  Plug the USB INTERFACE BOX into the back of the DISPLAY TIMER.
  2. Take the USB CABLE (this is long cable that comes with LED display) and plug one end into the LARGE LED DISPLAY.  Then take the other end of the USB CABLE and plug it into the back of the USB INTERFACE BOX where its marked XS DISPLAY PORT.

To Turn TIMING GEAR OFF

  1. On DISPLAY TIMER hold down Red on/off button until unit beeps.  The display will go blank.
  2. On the START PHOTO CELL hold down Blue on/off button until it beeps.
  3. On the START IR EMIT PHOTO CELL hold down Blue on/off button unit it beeps.  If this unit is not off you will hear a faint ticking noise.
  4. Follow steps 2 and 3 to turn off both FINISH PHOTO CELLS.
  5. IF ANY ONE COMPONENT OF THE TIMING GEAR IS SHUT OFF, EVERYTHING MUST BE SYNCHRONIZED AGAIN, (see Brower Timing Instructions above to synchronize) SO IT IS BEST TO LEAVE EVERYTHING RUNNING ONCE YOU START YOUR EVENT.
