| The Mercedes-Benz Classic Center USA, in conjunction
with the DaimlerChrysler Archives, is offering another service
to owners of classic Mercedes-Benz cars. Based on the chassis
number in the vehicle documents, owners can order an attractive
personalized certificate for their car–15 or more years
old--showing the original equipment specifications and delivery
date.
These high-quality embossed certificates are individually issued by the Corporate Archives in the name of the car’s current owner. The document lists the car’s delivery specifications and thus makes an ideal gift of lasting value, since the owner’s name is recorded for posterity in a commission book of the Archives. Number One The first certificate, number A0001, was presented to Professor Jürgen Hubbert by Dr. Harry Niemann, head of the DaimlerChrysler Corporate Archives. Prof. Hubbert, the DCAG board member responsible for Mercedes-Benz, smart, and Maybach cars, is a classic car fan and owns a white 1970 280SL. He drives his “pagoda” as regularly as time permits, providing a great example of the countless classic Mercedes-Benz cars lovingly cared for by owners around the world. As part of DCAG’s Classic unit, and being the corporation’s “memory”, the Archives serve as the repository of vehicle data cards as well as engine, car, and commission books, making it possible to establish the original specifications of almost every Mercedes or Mercedes-Benz passenger car ever built. Archived data ranges from internal company orders, production and engine numbers, to paint color, equipment, and special option details, as well as the place of delivery–for vehicles dating back to 1890.Order Yours Now Certificates can be obtained for Mercedes-Benz vehicles 15 years and older.
