MBCA's New Website

MBCA's New Website

Submitted by Adam Lumsden on 08-12-2010

Welcome to the new Mercedes-Benz Club of America website.  Here's an important overview for online guests and members.

We want to thank everyone at the National Business Office, the MBCA Board of Directors, section leadership and countless volunteers who worked so hard to make this website a reality.

You can always go to the FAQ page to get answers to common questions.  Not finding what you want? Please contact Adam Lumsden, who is the site's content manager.

Using the Site: Whether you're a member or guest, you can browse the site without logging in.

  • If you participated in the MBCA forums, you can use your existing user name and password
  • If you are an active member or associate member, you can use your name (e.g. John Smith), your member number or your email address to log in.  User names are not case sensitive.  Your initial password will be your member number; all letters must be in caps.  Associates, your member number is the primary member's number with an "A" appended to the end.  Be sure to change your password after you log in!
  • If you'd like to participate in the forums as a guest, you can create a guest login here.

Can't Get In?  If you have troubles logging in, request a new password.  Your password request will be sent to the email address on file at the National Business Office.  If you don't have an email on file, you'll need to contact the NBO.

Who Can Do What?  The MBCA website is a community for our members and friends.  If you're not a member and find the site valuable, please consider joining.

  • Anonymous visitors can view much of the content on the site.
  • Guests who have created free accounts can participate in our forums.  Guests can create classified ads.
  • In addition, active members and associate members can participate in interest groups, create news items, create events and view all articles in the Star Magazine on this site and interactively.  Members and associates receive a free classified ad.

Members: What would You Like To Do?  After logging in, you can:

  • Post Mercedes-Benz or Club news by clicking 'Add News Item' on our Current News page.  Your news item won't appear immediately.  A Club content manager reviews all news items and when they are approved, they appear to the public
  • Post an upcoming event for your local section, region or nationally by clicking on 'Add Event' on our Upcoming Events page.  Like the news items, a content manager will review the news item and approve it to be published to the public
  • After an event has occurred, click on the update tab of your event and add an event report documenting what happened at a past event and sharing photos.  You can find all your content by clicking on 'My Profile' at the top of the page and selecting the 'My Content' tab.  The event report will appear on the Event Report page when a content manager has approved the post.
  • Post a free or paid classified by either clicking on 'My Profile' or going to the Classified Ad page.

Membership: You now have control over your membership information:

  • You can now edit your member profile online by clicking My Profile at the top of this page and selecting the Edit Profile tab.  When you log in, you will land on your member profile page
  • You can renew your membership online and your membership will be updated immediately.  Just select Membership, Renew Now.  Your renewal will be added to end of your current membership
  • Associate members now have their own profiles, including email addresses, mailing addresses, etc.  Note that only active members receive a copy of The Star magazine, sections newsletters and any "official" direct mail Club correspondence
  • You'll be reminded when your membership is coming due so you can conveniently renew online

If you're just joining, you can select Membership, Join Today.  You'll be assigned to the closest local section based upon your zip code and you can immediately fully participate in our online community and enjoy all the benefits of membership.

Member Resources: The new web site is very dynamic and, from time to time, you will have access to:

  • Special membership promotions and refer-a-friend incentives
  • Member resources such as Event Rules Book, Procedures Manual, etc.
  • Online leadership reports

Online Club Store: The online store is available for members only.  Visitors are free to browse our club-branded merchandise.  The store now communicates with the US Postal Service and UPS to give you actual shipping rates.  You can also review all your orders online by clicking on My Profile and selecting the My Orders tab.

Rules of the Road:.  Any active member or associate can flag a post as offensive.  It will immediately be removed from public view.  One of the club's content managers will review the contents of the post against the club's editorial policy.  The content manager may reinstate the post, permanently remove the post, warn the person making the post or block the offending user.

Great site!!!

Like the subject says. It is a great site. It looks great. I think it will help bring in new members. Although the site is a litte confusing interms of navigating. I understand that there is more work to be done. I cant wait to see it when it is finished.

More Than a Car | We're a Community - Online as well!

Thanks to everyone that spent countless hours getting this done. And, yes the site will continue to improve for years to come.

The most important aspect is "community" and "content" generated by our members. If you are here for the first time, login and update your profile. Leave a few comments and enjoy meeting fellow members not only from your local area but throughtout the U.S. and Canada.

Again, great job everyone!
