Now that StarFest® 2012 has come to a successful close, it's time for us to
"get in gear" for StarTech® 2013 coming May 18-22 to Birmingham, Alabama!
StarTech plans and preparations are in full swing thanks to a team of MBCA
Members from across the country who are actively supporting the Event
Committee. The Hotel has been selected; the Committee is presenting to
potential sponsors; and dozens of activities and once-in-a-lifetime events
are already locked-in. *Be sure to save the dates below!*

*Saturday, May 18 *—Get a rare, up-close view of moon landers, rockets,
lunar capsules and more on a specially-guided tour of the U.S. Space & Rocket
Center in Huntsville, AL, about 100 miles north of Birmingham. Or take an
optional tour of the adjacent Marshall Space Flight Center. This
indoor/outdoor museum is impressive and so are the unique adventures you’ll
find here!

*Sunday, May 19 *— See where MLs, GLs and R-Class vehicles are meticulously
prepared for car shows in Detroit, Paris and around the globe during a
one-of-a-kind tour of the Mercedes-Benz South Central body and paint repair
facility in Birmingham

Join us at a Mercedes-Benz corral then drive laps around the challenging
Barber Motorsports Park 17-turn road course. We’ll celebrate your arrival
at StarTech with a special Welcome Reception at Barber Vintage Motorsports
Museum from 6pm-10pm. Muse among MBCA friends and the 1,600 motorcycles and
60 Lotus race cars on display here. A rarely-offered tour of the restoration
area is planned along with presentations by special guests

*Monday & Tuesday, May 20-21* *(with a possible extension to May 22)* —
Technical events will officially get under way at the Mercedes-Benz US
International (MBUSI) facility; the ONLY U.S. factory that produces every ML,
GL and R-Class for the entire world. Meet and learn from
nationally-recognized experts in the art of restoration, modification,
maintenance and repair inside MBUSI’s on-site training center. /It
doesn’t get any better than this!/ Enjoy special VIP tours of their massive
factory; eat lunch in the 500-seat employee dining room. Seminars on the
manufacturing process await you as well as an amusing session on the history
of the Alabama factory — celebrating its 20th Anniversary in 2013 — as
told by some of the original German team members.

Plus plenty of unique, non-technical events /everyone/ will enjoy!
