It was held at the Lancaster County Career & Technology Center in Mt. Joy. 11 drivers and many other members enjoyed a wonderful event with great weather. As usual, the course consisted of a good mix of slow and fast bits. We had three practice runs to learn the course. John Kitner and I gave instruction to anyone who needed it. We welcomed autocross newcomers John Perry and Marty Rexroth. They both improved rapidly. The times were measured by the automated timing equipment loaned to us by our national MBCA office. After practice it was time for lunch. This time we all brought our own picnic lunches. After lunch it was time for the four official runs. All drivers went out and improved upon their practice times. There were 3 classes. The closest battles of the day were John Magor and Bob Zangueneh in the SL/SLK class and the Kitners in their CLK. Jan keeps closing the gap at every event. Larry Taylor set the fastest time of the day. Jan Kitner set the fastest women’s time. We will be giving out a few trophies at the Holiday Party in December. We encourage everyone to come out to this event next year. It’s a great way to appreciate and learn the handling characteristics of your fine automobiles. It’s also as much of a social event as it is a driving event. Thanks to everyone who helped out this year. Our annual "Fall Rally" was held on Sunday afternoon, October 22, 2006. We met in the side parking lot at Dick's Sporting Goods Store, York, PA. We started out at 1:00 PM on a wonderful trip through the fall foliage in the York/Adams county area, and through “apple country”. We had instruction sheets with directions and questions to answer as we traveled along. Winners were to be determined by correct answers and staying closest to the mileage for the trip. The great thing about our rallies is that they are never timed. Therefore, there is never a need to push to maintain a certain speed or make up speed if you get lost. They are great fun afternoons, with very little anxiety. A nice drive, and a good dinner afterwards! Speaking of dinner, this year we concluded our run at The Farmhouse Tea Room Restaurant, along Route 30, west of York. This little stone farmhouse-turned-tea-room was the perfect ending to a great day. We had the entire house to ourselves, and a lovely meal prepared for us by the proprietress. We had choices of several teas served before dinner, and delicious desserts after. Max & Donna, who have run several rallies for the club, have a special way with the rally trophies, and this year was no exception! Max took photos of our cars as we left the start line. The winners were presented trophies containing the photo of their car. Everyone else, also received a photo, all printed and framed between the time of the start, and when we reached the restaurant. Nice work, Max & Donna! Brad & Gloria Oldenburg and two cars of family guests (all there to celebrate Brad’s birthday) took the first three places in this year’s rally. We’ll blame birthday luck. Congratulations, all of you! **************************************************************************** We still have Keystone Section Grill Badges available for sale Contact Eloise Tjernagel at 717-761-5838 or eloise@paonline.comThese make great Christmas gifts.
