Page 27-7/5 of the workshop manual targets the auto transmission angle drive as the source of a whine in 4th gear from 48 to 67 mph. Is this part still available? I've been told that this part can be changed without removing the tranny. However, I have not been able to locate it in any diagrams. Could you provide me with a diagram that shows it?

This is for a '65 300se coupe. ( 11202112008658 )

Thank you for your help.

Tom

Re: Transmission angle drive (regulator drive)

One of the difficulites we run into are the descriptions used in the old shop literature aren't always the same as what the parts department calls the same part. Angle drive? that's a new one on me. I wonder of it's something in the rear pump or governor?

Yes, Tom, the person who told me the part can be removed while on the car also referred to it as "the right angle drive for the governor". I hope that helps.

Thanks!

I'm assuming it's the governor drive gear set, which is on backorder in Germany. Please drop me an email at work.
