The power antenna on my 1983 300CD has been replaced by a replacement Hirschmann antenna which has a plastic "plug in adaptor" for the 12 volt power source and signal from the radio. I would like to replace this antenna with an original Hirschmann antenna from a 1984 300D with the mounting bracket from the 300CD. My problem is the wiring - the colors of the wires do not match up with the wiring loom in the car. I have hooked up the wires according to the numbers on the loom, but no luck. I know that my replacement antenna works fine as I hooked it up to my 1985 300D and it worked fine.
Does anyone know the proper way to wire this antenna? I dno know that I have two hot wires from the loom (red and blue wires). Thanks.
The wiring to the antenna also controls the trunk dome light. If they spliced into an aftermarket antenna, there is a possibility the dome light doesnt work.
I beleive it is red with a yellow stripe.

The wiring is different for a 1984-1985 300D vs. the other years. Is the one in your 84-85 a black plastic case? I beleive the one that is correct for your year, 1983, is one of those shiny aluminum cased ones.
If you look at the wiring diagrams, it specifically has a different section for 84-85, so yeah the wiring is a little different.
