I hear a rattle in the roof on the passenger side when I drive past 70mph. I think it is the latch on the passenger side making the noise. I can wiggle the latch hook on the passenger side. On the driver’s side the latch hook will not move. I even took off all trim pieces on the roof to isolate the sound.

Does anyone have any ideas? The car is a 2002 SLk320.

I found my rattle. The heat shield underneath the car was missing 2 nuts on the passenger side. It sounded like I had a screw rolling in the top.

I just cannot believe I spent over $60 on missing screws; bolts, nuts, clips, and broken roof trim pieces. The insurance company will reimburse me. But I just do not understand why I am missing them in the first place. Two Mercedes dealerships and two body shops worked on my car.
