I know I posted this topic once before but I was reading an artile posted by a fellow MBCA member regarding the new GLK. http://www.usatoday.com/money/autos/reviews/healey/2010-05-13-mercedes-benz-glk350_N.htm?csp=34&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+UsatodaycomMoney-TopStories+(Money+-+Top+Stories)

One point the article said was: "The seven-speed automatic transmission resets to its less-responsive mode each time you shut off the vehicle, forcing you to punch up "S" for Sport at each restart — just to get the thing to start out in first gear instead of second and to hold each gear a little longer for better performance."

I noticed a similer situation a few months ago when I was getting my car serviced at the dealer. They loand me a C300 and when I started the car, the car was in Comfort mode and I swiched it to Sport mode. When I went out later that night i started the car agean and I noticed that the car was in Comfort mode.

My car doesnt do that. It starts with the last mode that it was swiched to.

Is this something new? That all new MB's start in comfort Mode or is it a defect?

Or when dealers lend out cars they have the car set up in a way where it wont start with the last mode selected?

Re: Confort and Sport mode-Default

I had a new C300 loaner last week and it was in "C" when I picked it up. I reset it to "S" mode and it stayed there.

Not sure about new models, but my old timer stays put. My dealer loans new C300s and I will try to check this out when I get my next loaner.

Re: Confort and Sport mode-Default

Andrew, I don't know about the C Class, but owners of the new W212 E Class have been complaining about that on other MB forums.

I don't know if it's "officially" that way, or that perhaps there is a software defect in some samples. But, again, there have been complaints.

fwiw, my W211 E63 doesn't do that. When I train it in S mode, it stays that way the next time I put it in S mode; and there's no reverting back into C mode after shut off.

Re: Confort and Sport mode-Default

I am hoping it is a software defect or maybe when the dealer lends out the car they have it set up that way so people wont go nuts with the loner cars. But if its "officaly" that way then that will be an annoyance. I like driving in Sport mode and useing comfort mode when I need to.
