Here's what John found out when he talked to Brian Klas, head of the C Class group for MBUSA in NJ today:
C Coupe was introduced for first time with the 2000 model year.
The following figures are from the introduction thru 2/3/05:
Total C Coupes to date: 30,000
Total manual transmission C Coupes to date: 3,300 (11%)
Total C Coupes this year to date: 50
Total C230 Coupes to date: 24,600
Total manual transmission C Coupes to date: 3,200
Total C320 Coupes to date: 2,400 (Rare!!)
Total manual transmission C320 Coupes to date: 30 (Very Rare!!)
Total Citron Green C Coupes with automatic transmission (all engine sizes): 4
Total Citron Green C Coupes with manual transmission (all engine sizes): 1 (THAT'S MY "KERMIT"!!!!)
Brian told him that "she has a very rare car - the only one of its kind - the rarest of the rare:. He also said the color was only in the US because one of the MBUSA VP's fell in love with the color and ordered that it be made available in the US. Citron Green was the rarest color in the MB lineup.
These are official records from MBUSA - 2/3/05
WOW ! ! ! ! ! !
(Our son said we outght to put Kermit in the Barrett-Jackson auction!! just kidding of course)

Thanks for the info. Really nice to know I have one of 30 C320 Coupes with a manual. Who is John and how was he able to talk to Brain Klas?

Hi Doug,
John is my husband. He started out calling an 800 number, then he was given a 201 area code number, got an answering machine with a message that said for C class questions call this other number, left a message and Brian called him back today. In fact he talked to him twice today - first about numbers then about the Citron Green color and their respective numbers.
It's very obvious that those of us with the C320 coupes are definitely in the minority of the total coupes to date.
Your guess on numbers in another thread was pretty close to what was passed along to John today!
Just by pure luck I found a MiniChamps model of the car in the same color at a model store in San Marino last October. It's a 2001 model instead of the 2004 like the real car, but it certainly will do for me!
Now you have an incentive for a personalized license plate for Alabaster Annie ----- "1 of 30". We had entertained the idea of doing a special plate for the red car since Sophia is 1 of 42 Mondial t Coupe Ferrari's imported into the US from '89-'93. My "Kermit" has special Animal Friendly plates - part of the fee goes towards a neuter/spay program for dogs and cats - plate has a cute dog and cat on it! Possibilities can be endless . . . . .
Have a great evening.
Carol
My cars already have special plates, but they're not related to any particular car...I've had them 25years. We're going to have a C-Class rallye this year, hope you can make it. It will be in NJ but no timing confirmed at this point.
Doug
The rallye sounds like loads of fun but I am afraid that NJ is a bit far for us. I assume that you will post information on here somewhere??
Thanks,
There was a citron green 2004 C320 6speed w/no moonroof here in Cleveland last year. I'm not sure where it ended up. In any case it is a very rare and pretty car. The coupe was not introduced in the 2000 model year in the U.S. The first year was actually calendar 2001 for model year 2002. The numbers they gave you for this year are probably calendar year not model year sales. Since the coupe is out of production for the U.S. 50 sales in January makes some sense.
Good research!
I guess I am one of the lucky 3200:)
Carol
NJ is not too far, that's why you have all these cars!! Yes I will post it.
Doug

Carol,
I saw a Citron Green Coupe at our local dealership about a year or so ago - and I could swear it had a manual...
