A familiar problem based upon the threads, but I am a little confused.

My 420 SEL alarm has recently been going off while driving. I noticed that I appears to happen on bumps - seems to be the anti-towing alarm.

Anyway - I want to disable the alarm system. I have looked at prior threads and see that there is a device under the passenger floorboard that can be unplugged - I looked there and do not see a device with two plugs into it on the left side. All I see is a Becker control unit of some sort. Photos??

As for the anti-towing unit in the trunk - can anyone point out exactly where it is located so I can identify it and unplug it? Photos??

These alarms may have been necessary in 1989, but nowadays few sane criminals would ever steal a Becker radio or for that matter try to tow a 16 year old sedan with 160K miles on it. Unless of course they were trying to restore a 126 and needed parts.

thanks,

Further research has taught me that the "Becker control unit" is in fact part no. N26 - the alarm unit!! Now all I need is info on the anti-towing unit.

Thanks

Thanks for the info. Your reference to the trunk actuator is interesting. For the past few months, every time I try to open the trunk, it will not open and the doors lock automatically. I then have to use the key to unlock the trunk before it will open.

Can you point to a thread or link which explains a troubleshooting plan for this issue? Disabling the alarm will stop the blaring horn, but not the underlying problem, that seems to emanate from the trunk.
