I've searched the postings, but haven't found this discussion.
Right rear brake light went out, got the message on the dash. No problem - put in a new bulb. Original bulb looked pretty good though and, sure enough, new bulb did not solve problem.
Swapped bulb mounts; right rear brake light still out. Left works fine, so I know the bulb and housing are fine.
Checked voltage across housing with bulb/mount out - no reading until brake pedal applied, then 13V.
So, I'm stumped. I've got voltage, and a bulbs/mounts that works on left side, but not on the right side.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Ed
Common problem on the 210 chassis. Do as Ed suggests. Make sure the contacts are bent to where they will make contact with the bulb. Some have added a little solder to make sure there is contact.
tail light sockets are common on these cars.
Hi Ed We have been changing the tail lamp assembly on the 210 since they came out, inspect the electrical grid you should see the burning of the grid, and or socket,do not feel bad GLs and ML having same problem.Tech 08

The contacts between the housing and the bulb mounts might be burnt, dirty, or corroded. Make sure they are clean and shine a bit.
That was my problem with the third brake light on my car when it did not work. I also added a lump of solder to one of the contacts.
