Any tips on how to remove the sun visors will be appreciated.  It is not as straight forward as I had originally thought.  Removed the visible screws on the mounting rods to no avail.  Again, any help/suggestions will be appreciated.  Thanks   Bob

Bob, I moved this question to the R107 sub-forum.  See a detailed set of steps for removing the visors, with photos, at http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r-c107-sl-slc-class/1473025-sun-visor-clips-2.html

Sun visor removal

Hi,

I just did this on my 380SL.  There are two screws holding each of the visor rods and you need to remove the leather trim running along the top of the windshield to get at the second, hidden screw.  The first step is to yank the rear view mirror straight down while twisting it slightly.  It should pop out of the bracket fairly easily. Next, remove the three small screws holding in that bracket and then remove the screw holding the leather trim.  Now, carefully remove the leather trim by pulling it towards the rear of the car; work it slowly and carefully since it might be glued in and you don't want to damage it.  The trim may then be hanging by the wires for the interior lights, which is fine for while you do what you need to do with your visors.

I bought replacement "replica" visors from Performance Products and I was happy with them.

Good luck,
Steve

Sun visor Removal

If you can, do yourself a huge favor and reinstall sun visors from a 560 with lighted mirrors. You'll be happy you did, plus you get the added benefit of no more droopy, flimsy visors.

Where do you power the lights?

A.J.
Since my old visors are "puffy" and could stand replacement - where would one draw power for the lighted mirrors, if installing them in a car that did not have lighted mirrors?  I know mine has wiring for the map lights in the bow, but of course they are switched on the dashboard.  Would you suggest routing separate power, or using the map light power?  Do the mirrors in the 560 have their own switch (as they do in the S500)?

The 560 visors are going to be installed in the same way as your old visors.
All you have to do is splice into the 560 visor line with longer wire, tuck it in nicely along the top (so that it looks factory), put connecters on the ends, and use the power from map light.

When you flip the vanity lid open the visor lights will come on, and when you close the lid, the vanity lights will go turn off. Works like a charm.
