As I understand it, the German government specified the use of more biodegradable plastics back in the early 1990's, and so Mercedes Benz "engineered" the 1992-96 wiring to meet that standard. Unfortunately for us, the engine heat causes the engine wiring harness to break down before its time.
Anyone know if engine wire harness failures occur in 1992-6 era BMW, Porsche, Audi, or VW?

Dupont made the wire insulation....... what a mess.
