I have a 1987 560SL with badly worn leather seats.
I found a set from a 1989 560SL and wonder if they would work.
Not sure if a direct replacement or not.
Would like to know if they will work and if I will need to modify them.
Thanks

They should fit OK - best to lube the sliding tracks with white lithium grease - beware - do not mix up the plastic sliders - they are different widths left and right side tracks, inner and outer . . .

Thanks for the info.
The seats are on ebay but they dont look right.
The sides do not have the knob for the back adjustment.
Ebay Item number: 8031741071
If someone could take a look and see what they think it would be great.
Also see some leather covers on ebay for $725 Item number: 4606389014
Might be a better way to go but not sure if I need new pads and where to get that done at.

My father passed away 3 years ago and his 1987 560SL was his pride and joy.
The SL has 160000 miles and the seats look a little sad.
Sheepskins look like about $500 and that seems to much for cover up.

I love the SL and sometimes just sit in it and smile.

Yeah - they don't look like SL seats - and a bit pricy . . shop around

Call Ron's Restorations in Atlanta for a price to redo your seats - save money with MB Tex which lasts better than leather in an open car . . .

I ordered a set of new Leather covers from eBay, couldn’t help myself.
It was my anniversary :)
So if anyone has experience with taking out the seats and removing and installing new covers I would appreciate it. Thanks Mark

The 107 SL seats are quite complicated compared to the sedans - last time I tried to recover one I decided to send them to Ron's . . you might check with a local shop to see if they have ever done them - otherwise call Ron's . . .

Seat replacement

My son and I removed the seats Sunday and got the headrests done.
My fingers are a little sore today.
Armrest is covered but need to cut holes, was to tired to try.
I am taking pictures along the way so hope to have a complete install guide when done.

Seat Back Knob

Does anybody know how to remove the large black seat back adjustment knob?
I was told the center of it removes but sure doesnt look like it.
I drilled a small hole on the edge to pry it out but still dont think that is the answer.

Thanks

560SL seat covers

The seat covers I purchased don’t look right for a 560SL.
Can someone who has seen a replacement give me some help?
Something more than do not buy from eBay please?
The company I got the covers from sold me a seat pad that is somewhat flat?

Basically the covers will not fit over the original pad.
They will not fit over a replacement pad I purchased from performance products.

The barely fit over the pad I purchased from the cover supplier.

So now I wonder if the bottoms are for a different model?
Is the 1987 560SL different from other w107’s?

The Brown pad is from Performance Products and looks just like the original
Thanks,
Lesson learned but not recovered from yet.

The manufacturer has admitted that the cover is for the wrong model and is mailing the correct cover. Saga continues.....

replacement of seat covers

Did you do it by yourself? And if you did, how long it took you to replace those seat covers?

thanks

Hi I have a 83's 380sl with an original leather (brasil) color seat cover, however these needs to be replaced... Do you think the MB Tex cover is better than the leather covers?

Seat renew

I replaced the leather seat covers myself.
I would think if you had all the parts and tools ready it would take about a week.
This includes some time for your fingers to recover from streching the leather.
The leather covers came from John at
Tell him Mark sent you.
I hope to put a cd on ebay as I took pictures of every single step.

Not sure about MB Tex cover would like to see a sample next to a sample of leather. The leather is soft and a little prone to scrapes and scuffs but should harden up with some time. Get a sample of both and lightly scrape to see if the MB Tex shows better or worse, make sure samples are same color.

I felt a 560SL came with Leather and should be leather.

Also check on seat pads as this is a big project and you will want it done right.
I replaced the seat pads after I saw what I was getting into.

I have been trying to remove the black adjustment knobs from a 72 450SL to get the chrome hinge covers off. My CD from MBUSA says to pry the center cover off to get the the knurled part of the adjustment knob. Are you saying the entire black knob just pulls straight out?

Anybody had to remove these adjusting knobs? I can't seem to pry the center cover off without putting a lot of pressure on the plastic knurled portion, and I am afraid I will just break it if I pry too hard.

Any suggestions?
