NEXT EVENT! Shiner Brewery Tour with the Lone Star Section, Shiner, TX

PLUS your choice of Lavaca County Scenic Drive OR Painted Churches Tour Friday to Sunday, August 20-22

NEW ACTIVITY!  JOIN FORT WORTH'S "COME AND TAKE IT" TOUR OF THE HISTORIC DISTRICT OF GONZALES, TX!

Let us join the Lone Star (Austin) Section for a private tour of the K. Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner, TX. The brewery is closed on weekends, but will conduct a special tour for us on Saturday, August 21, courtesy of the Lone Star Section. Lone Star has also planned a tour of the Painted Churches in the Schulenburg area for the next day. Since some of us toured the painted churches last year, we have planned a scenic Sunday drive through the rolling hills of Lavaca County as an alternative. Of course, you are more than welcome to attend Lone Star's tour if you have not seen these beautiful painted churches.

NEW! Fort Worth Section has planned a Saturday afternoon Gonzales Historic District driving tour as an alternative to free time at Shiner.  We will take a short drive through this beautiful country from Shiner to Gonzales.  We will start the Gonzales tour with a visit to the Old County Jail Museum, then take a driving tour through the historic district.  See schedule below.

Because of the early start of the Shiner Brewery Tour on Saturday, Fort Worth/Dallas members will need to spend the night in the Shiner area on Friday. Therefore, we will meet for a briefing at the famous Elite Circle Grill in Waco on Friday, August 20, 1:15pm, and depart for Shiner at 1:30. The restaurant is located at 2132 S Valley Mills Drive, Waco, (254) 754-4941 (map below). We plan to stay 2 nights (Friday and Saturday, August 20 and 21) in the Shiner area, and depart for home on Sunday.

IMPORTANT! SIGN UP AND BOOK YOUR B&B/HOTEL RESERVATIONS NOW, OR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.  Accommodations can be hard to obtain in this rural area of Texas.  See below for suggested lodging.  We also suggest you bring a cooler with your favorite beverage.  Please follow Signup instructions and note event schedule, which are also below.   Click to email DJ de Jesus to let us know you are coming, or if you have questions.
