Long Beach - South Bay Section Event

Event Report
On Sunday the 11th of December, the Long Beach - South Bay Section held its annual Christmas Brunch.  This year we tried a new location for the gathering, the Hotel Angeleno which is just off the I-405 freeway and being on the 17th floor afforded fantastic views of Los Angeles.

Everyone in attendance agreed it was a great location with great food, and it may well be the location for next year's event.  Our meal consisted of a delicious salad, chicken and a delightful dessert that was enjoyed by all.

As you can see from the picture above, we are still very pleased to have won the Section of the Year award, and the banner and plaque were on display.  In addition, the Great Escape Rally Cup was there, which could be yours to hide for a year if you win the Rally this coming June.

As usual, we had a good supply of unwrapped toys to donate to underprivileged children at the Long Beach Women's Shelter this holiday season.  Many young faces will be smiling on Christmas morning thanks to our members.  The raffle and gift exchange provided us with some hilarious moments during and after lunch, and all were pleased with their gifts and prizes.

As it is our custom, we presented our Member of the Year plaque at this event.  This year's winner, Chuck Woske, accepted the award based on his accomplishments for the Section, most notably our Section of the Year submission.

Lastly, and by no means the least, our thanks go to our Membership Chair, George Brown, for his suggestion of the venue, and to his wife Leah, who just happens to be the Marketing Director at the hotel.  Her help and guidance in preparing the room and the meal were well evident, and all the members were grateful for their efforts.

All in all, we had a wonderful time celebrating the holiday season, and wish each of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Event Images
