You are cordially invited to the Seattle Section's annual Holiday Gala at the brand-new LeMay Car Museum. A wonderful dinner will be prepared and entertainment provided. This is an exciting opportunity to see the new Museum without the crowds while enjoying a celebratory dinner with friends.
The Seattle Section’s holiday party at the new LeMay America’s Car Museum was almost as exciting as getting a puppy for Christmas. Our banquet area was decked out with a display of vintage automobiles, classic muscle cars, and even a 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS Roadster. The collection evoked a sense of nostalgia, stories told of “my first car”, and head turning awe at the sound of the 2012 SLS’ motor revving for a brief moment.
Added to the backdrop of this fantastic venue for a car club, members enjoyed an excellent selection of wines that Michael Teer of Soul Wine brought for our wine tasting experience, a delicious buffet with prime rib and chicken prepared by the friendly and accommodating staff from Pacific Grill, and delightful holiday and popular songs from Larry Schacher, a multi-talented musician with a keyboard, a saxophone and an easy listening style that blended perfectly with the evening. Members also found a beautifully wrapped package at their place setting with salted chocolate caramels from Forte Chocolates.
Our earlier shout out to members requesting donated items or dollars towards putting together charity gift baskets was well received. Partygoers were generous with their raffle ticket purchases towards the beautiful items on display and we were able to bring in over $800 for the night. We added some collections from a previous event and were able to donate $237.50 towards each of the four local food banks chosen for this benefit. Check out the Charity Donations article in this newsletter for more information on the generosity and giving of our Seattle Section membership in 2011.
Ian and I would like to give a huge thank you to Jerri Bean for chairing this event and to thank all the committee helpers, Debbie & Paul Ward, Oksana Lysenko, Eric Bean, Bob & Tanya Willits, Stephanie Blackwell-Lloyd & Steve Lloyd, Tracey Cole, Stelian & Massilia Paraschiv, Kim Ferreiro, Bonnie & Marcus Muccilli, and Joan & David Glass. An extra special thank you to Lilia McCannel who designed our centerpieces even though she and Michael would not be able to attend the party! Many hands made light work and we had a great time working with you!
It was wonderful to see so many old friends and new faces at this sold out event, our most well attended holiday party in recent history. The LeMay museum was certainly a unique and alluring attraction and we look forward to their grand opening on June 2nd, 2012 when all of their vignettes, automobile history and full collection will be on display.
