Texas Hill Country
On of the benefits of being a Mercedes Club member is that you meet other enthusiasts and discover there are classic Mercedes gems right in your own back yard. That's what happened to members of the Texas Hill Country Section. Originating from the former Alamo Section in 2011, we discovered section member Gregory Haag and his 1951 220 A Cabriolet.
Greg who lives South east of San Antonio in La Vernia, Texas (...

Sierra Nevada
t was a night of great food and gales of laughter for Sierra Nevada MBCA members. Our odyssey began on the night of January 13th at Silver Legacy’s Flavors buffet. Twenty of our members took their pick of everything from Chinese food to prime rib to King Crab legs. As if that wasn’t enough, most partook of the plethora of desserts ranging from bread pudding to fruit pies to ice cream.
Once we had sufficiently gorged ourselves to ensure that we could make it...

Sierra Nevada
It was Lake Tahoe in January and still "No Chains Required." With the winter being unusually warm, 20 Sierra Nevada members took their Mercedes-Benz' for a tour of Lake Tahoe. We went through Mt Rose Pass at about 9,000 feet elevation, then around Lake Tahoe, and finally ended up at Walley's Hot Springs in Genoa for lunch. Members Barry and Barbara Fleischer brought their absolutely perfect 1955 300SL Gullwing along for the trip, a real treat for...

Fort Worth
Our 20-car convoy made its way on scenic, mostly twisty and hilly roads through the North Texas Hill Country en route to Clifton, the Norwegian Capital of Texas. We enjoyed lunch at Johnny's Place, a local hangout which served a hearty Chicken-Fried Steak plus other country cooking selections. The staff was terrific, and the price was certainly right.
After lunch, we visited the Clifton Classic Chassis, a private museum which houses 25 restored and original classic...

Kansas City
January 1st was a beautiful day for a First Sunday Drive in the Kansas City area. We were fortunate to enjoy bright sunshine and temperatures in the mid 40’s - hardly the norm for this time of year. Usually it’s much colder with snow.
This month's drive this took us to the Country Club Plaza, one of Kansas City’s most popular areas, full of upscale shopping opportunities and dining establishments to satisfy anyone’s appetite.
To put...

Members of the Texas Hill Country Section met at the Vineyard Shopping Center to help bring in the new year and enjoy coffee and pastries from the nearby Panera Bread Company. Cars and Rides meets the last Saturday of each month with American muscle cars, exotics and everything in between. Visitors walk around...

MBCA-CGS Annual Holiday Party—December 17, 2011:
A festive time was had by all 35 attendees at the annual Holiday Party. The men looked handsome in their suits and ties, but the ladies stole the show, as they all looked magnificent in their holiday party attire. The party was held at the Langston House Restaurant at the Heritage Village in Perry, GA. Our private party on the Veranda provided room for the attendees, our Toys-For-Tots overflowing...

Vancouver Island
We had a lovely room at the Union Club for our annual holiday gathering. Just the right size for our two tables of eight, it came with a helpful assistant who ensured we could always keep our glasses full. We were close to the dance floor and the dinner buffet, which, a bit like NASCAR, offered its usual inducements to ignore intake restrictions. Our hosts John and Cordelia McIntosh provided wine for each table and the Club provided draw prizes and mementos to take home.
Barry Patchett brought...

Long Beach - South Bay
On Sunday the 11th of December, the Long Beach - South Bay Section held its annual Christmas Brunch. This year we tried a new location for the gathering, the Hotel Angeleno which is just off the I-405 freeway and being on the 17th floor afforded fantastic views of Los Angeles.
Everyone in attendance agreed it was a great location with great food, and it may well be the location for next year's event. Our meal consisted of a delicious salad, chicken and a delightful dessert that...

Seattle
The Seattle Section’s holiday party at the new LeMay America’s Car Museum was almost as exciting as getting a puppy for Christmas. Our banquet area was decked out with a display of vintage automobiles, classic muscle cars, and even a 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS Roadster. The collection evoked a sense of nostalgia, stories told of “my first car”, and head turning awe at the sound of the 2012 SLS’ motor revving for a brief moment.
Added to the backdrop of this...

The Fort Worth Section held their 2011 Holiday Celebration at the famous Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth. Once again, we thank long-time MBCA member Gerry Goodman, who made it possible for us to use this great venue.
Arriving members were welcomed with an hors d’oeuvres reception, which provided a great opportunity for members to get to know each other or to reaffirm old ties in a nice social setting. During the reception, a musical slideshow...

MBCA|GWS New Member Reception 2011
What better way to start the Holiday Season than by gathering together and helping others with donations of toys and food!
New MBCA members and those of the various online Mercedes-Benz enthusiast forums joined together on a bright and sunny Sunday afternoon in early December for the GWS New Member Reception hosted by Mercedes Benz and Sprinter of Baltimore as a way to introduce them to our section and the club. A pre-holiday get-together is a great time to...

NYC Long Island
Few single events in a club's year epitomize the style, class and solid core of participation than a Holiday Party. President Oliver Seligman could not have said it better - these people are well-oiled machines like the cars we, as a club, represent. Front and center was the venue itself. When talking about elegant eateries, The Inn at New Hyde Park oft mentioned as one of the top on Long Island. The menu included a lavish cold display of fruit, cheese, mushrooms, passed Hors d'...

Sacramento
On December 4 (naturally a First Sunday!) the destination of the Sacramento gang was a Gold Rush town off the beaten Hwy 49 tourist path. When I initially went there - to plan the route - dusk was coming. I strolled into the Washington Hotel and at the bar saw the bartender playing cards with some of the locals.
The locals looked like they had just come in from a day at the diggings along the Yuba River, and if Rod Serling had been with me I know he would have been furiously...

One of piece of advice - in case of an accident, if your vehicle is driveable - move it off the road. Referring to this as “Steer It...

On December 3rd a large contingent of Twin Cities Section members met for our annual Holiday Party at the Olympic Hills Golf Club in Eden Prairie. Marguerite and Dean Rosenow were gracious hosts again, even having to adjust for the overflow attendance. We owe them a big thank you!
Mother nature was right on cue; all through the party we were treated by a beautiful large flake snowfall - perfect! A wet snow made the drive to the party a cautious one but everyone safely...
